चतुर्थी Ca se - Dative

Sentence 5: कामुकः दास्या संयच्छ्ते - "The lustful person is giving money to the maid." What is given to the girl/maid? The accusative (money) seems to be missing and the verb संयच्छ्ते is in Optativ. सम्यम् according to https://sanskrit.inria.fr/DICO/66.html#sa.myam means: restrain, repress, control, chain. That which is chained is दासी . Why is दासी in Instrumental and not in Accusative? Since the optative is used, I tried following translation: "may the lustful-one chain (by, with, trough) the maid." But it didn't make sense either.

Sentence 7: हाटकम् - is in no dictionary. Is this a typo?

Sentence 10: परपिडन - is in no dictionary. Is this a typo?

Sentence 14: रजा should be राजा

Sentence 17. "Girls like flowers" बालिकाः पुष्पेभ्यः स्पृहयन्ति - should be बालिकाभ्यः पुष्पानि रोचन्ते / स्पृहयन्ति ।

Sentence 18 सर्वे ज्ञानाय स्पृहयन्तु should be सर्वेभ्यो ज्ञानं स्पृहयन्तु ।

Sentence 20 मह्यं दुग्धं रोचते should be मे / मह्यम् क्षीरं / दुग्घं रोचे

Sentence 21 शिशवे क्रीडा रोचते should be शिशवे क्रीडां रोचते ।

Sentence 25 इन्द्राय स्वाह should be इन्द्राय स्वाहा ।

Regarding sentence 26: बषट् - I couldn't find this word. Could it be a typo? However, I did find वषट् - https://sanskrit.inria.fr/DICO/57.html#va.sa.t - which is a Vedic interjection that goes with Dative. I also found it here: https://www.google.com/books/edition/The_Taittir%C3%ADya_sa%E1%B9%83hit%C3%A1_of_the_Black/cMxDAAAAYAAJ?hl=en&gbpv=1&dq=%E0%A4%AC%E0%A4%B7%E0%A4%9F%E0%A5%8D&pg=PA36&printsec=frontcover on page 36 written as: वषट्

Sentences 30-32: I'm very confused with the translation of the verb धृ (10) धारयति. https://sanskrit.inria.fr/DICO/34.html#dh.r translates it as "to owe;" (retain, hold, maintain, etc.) not "to borrow". Therefore:

30. श्यामः रामाय शतं धारयति - translation should be: "Shyama owes 100 to Rāma." / He owes Rāma $.

31. अहं कस्मै किञ्चित् न धारयामि - translation should be: "I don't owe anything to him."

32. हरिः भक्ताय मोक्षं धारयति - translation should be: "Lord Viṣṇu owes mokṣa to the devotees."

Lastly there are 2 typos on Sentence 33: माता पूत्राय चन्द्रं दर्शायति - should be: मता पुत्राय चन्द्रं दर्शयति ।

I hope this email reaches you in health.

May you reach moksha. May you join Brahman. May the radiance of Shiva be one with you. ॥ अहं तदस्मि ॥ ॥ शिवोऽहं शिवोऽहं शिवोऽहम् ॥

नमस्ते

In the webpage http://sanskrit.samskrutam.com/en.grammar-tutorial-noun-form-cases-dvitiiyaa.ashx I have a couple of doubts. Since I am a new student, please pardon me if I am wrong.

19. सैनिकाः मार्गम् उभयतः अगच्छत् Since "सैनिकाः" is plural and this sentence is in past tense, instead of "अगच्छत्" should it not be "अगच्छन्" ?

24. देशं सर्वतः वर्षा भवन्ति Here, I believe "वर्षा" is Feminine Singular and hence instead of "भवन्ति" we should have "भवति" ?

Dear Sir/ Madam,

I highly appreciate the efforts in spreading the knowledge of Sanskrit through your website. I have been a regular visitor to your site.

Please check - whether the Instrumental should be DatrBhi in plural.

I have pasted the same from the site.

Dear Sir/ Madam,

Greetings. I have been a user of the knowledge put up on the website http://samskrutam.com and I am re-learning Sanskrit. However have a small doubt:

It is said that the grammar of Sanskrit takes care of placement of works. E.g., Balah Kavim Pashyati. One child looks at a poet. Interchanging the words does not disturb the meaning.

However for dual object and dual subject - is there something extra that needs to be added as the nominative and accusative forms are same?

Baalau Kavii pashyatah ... will it mean same as ... Kavii baalau pashyatah. Here placement changes the meaning or creates ambiguity.

Please guide.

Warm regards,

Soumendra Narain Bagchi

Dear sir, I found your site very helpful for the learners, but I can't find 'sankhya vachak' and 'sankhyapurak' adjectives on your site. Please make these available on your site as soon as possible. I also have a website gujrati.weebly.com on which I have put some sanskrit subhashits. D: 01/DEC/2013 Ravishankar Joshi

Hi, Let me congratulate the team for putting this website together. However I want to point to some mistakes could be clear typos. its बहुवचन (bahuvachana) not वहुवचन (Vahuvachana) similarly its Subanta not suvanta. clearly there is a confusion between va and ba. I would appreciate if you can make these little corrections. Raama
